Episode 2 for Rated T - The Tacoma Film Connection, hosted by Bryant F. Hankins with special guest, Chase Willett. In this episode we look into the 1984 Francis Veber slapstick buddy-comedy movie Three Fugitives, starring Nick Nolte, Martin Short, James Earl Jones, and Alan Ruck.
This movie is a remake of a French movie “Les fugitifs”. In a rare move, the same director was brought on to film the American version. While there are some good moments in this movie (Martin Short in particular), it fell short and a lot of the humor didn’t necessarily translate well into an American film.
This movie was shot mainly in Tacoma, and a lot of iconic landmarks can be seen including Old City Hall, the Bank of California Building, and the Spanish Steps outside of the Elks Temple (now McMenamins Elks Temple).
